Day 45 — Sojana, an Ocean Beauty

Low clouds push over the mountains of Guadeloupe this morning. The anchor is dropped until we begin the ocean race back to Antigua, the first in the ocean series race during during Sailing Week. A crew of 14, my photographer and I sailed from Falmouth Harbor the night before on Sojana, a Farr designed 115-foot super yacht, cruising at a top speed of 17 knots. We brought sleeping bags but were treated to down-filled comforters and washed in Vileroy & Boch sinks.

Sojana placed second, under three hours. A softer wind reduced our speed to an average of about 13.5 knots.
