Day 77 — Erotic Thought of the Day

I don’t know about you, but those cute little books on thoughts or prayers for a day to help you get through tough-luck times don’t cut it with me. I find them sappy and spiritual beyond my religious upbringing. Look, you Match.com guys, I am not a “Christian woman.” I chewed my communion wafer in grade school, and I’ve been divorced—twice!

For me, when I’m going through a bad spot—being unemployed for nearly seven months and the simultaneous breakup from the love of my life—requires different thoughts to help me pass through the day and make it into the next.

I offer Ann’s Erotic Thought of the Day. How could it get any better, unless it was the real thing?

Here’s what you’d find in my night stand book:

I feel a romantic chill until he grabs my wrist and pulls me into a kiss, and I squeeze his wrist back. I contemplate a longer kiss, but we both submit to reality. I needed to leave for the airport soon. I’d been looking forward to the hour or so we would have spent together before my clock struck midnight. I am drugged with my own fantasies about whether he would have taken me to the beach to make out, or if we’d drink coffee and chat. He says he’d like to see me when he’s in New York City in June and will email me. He turns to leave.

I agree, not totally erotic, but just think if the kiss did last longer, and another rendezvous ensued. I love this thought because it actually happened to me, and you’ve got to admit that it is better than this Prayer of the Day:

I pray that I may be used by God to lighten many burdens. I pray that many souls may be helped through my efforts.

How can the idea of redemption, salvation, keeping your knees crossed be better than rockin’ to the beat of being with a lover?

Oh, and you’ll get a job soon. The days of unemployment will pass much more quickly if you can imagine a better life and do something to achieve it.
